Dogs Welcome

Dogs are welcome on the cable cars and around the estate as long as they are kept on a lead. Unfortunately for safety reasons, dogs cannot go into the underground caverns.

Your four legged friend travels for free in the cable car, so bring them along to join you in admiring the views and posing for photos as you soar across the Derwent Valley. Once you arrive at the summit, let your pooch lead the way through our 60-acre estate.

Dogs are welcome to dine with you inside the café and outside the Vista restaurant in our garden courtyard. Dogs cannot dine inside the Vista restaurant or on the Vista balcony. We have plenty of picnic spots dotted around too.

Take a look at our Dogs are Welcome guide and plan your day out with your dog! You can pick up a copy of the guide at the ticket office on arrival.

Unfortunately we can’t allow dogs into the caverns due to the amount of small and exciting looking holes that they might run into! The Waggy Tails Trail is a 25 to 30 minute walk over the top of Masson Hill which has been designed to finish just around the corner from the exit of the Masson Cavern, so you can be reunited with your group once they’ve finished their tour. We suggest at this point that you swap the dog over and the other half of your group heads into the caverns so nobody misses out.

All dogs are the responsibility of their owner. Any actions taken by the dog whilst visiting the Heights of Abraham are the owner’s responsibility and no liability shall be taken by the Heights of Abraham. Please follow these rules to ensure everyone has a safe day out:

  • Dogs should always kept on a lead.
  • Dogs should never be left unsupervised.
  • Dogs should be kept under control at all times.
  • Dogs should not enter designated play areas.
  • Any dog waste should be picked up immediately and disposed of.
